CLOTHING CARE

  1. COTTOLY

Cotton is durable and easy to care for.

To retain the color of your cotton shirt, turn it inside out or put it in a pillowcase before washing. Make sure to button all buttons, as this will help retain the shirt’s shape.

Ironing your shirt while it is still damp will give the best result. If the shirt is dry, use a water spray or a steam iron.

Generally follow the instructions on the care label.

  1. FLEECE

Turn fleece inside out before washing. This prolongs the lifespan.

Wash at 30-40°C and spin gently.

Hang dry for the best result. Avoid tumble-drying. If you do not have an alternative then use the lowest possible heat.

Fleece should never be ironed, steamed, pressed or dry-cleaned, as this may cause it to melt. Avoid all use of bleach or fabric softener.

Generally follow the instructions on the care label.

  1. LEATHER

Leather is a natural material. It is strong, soft and comfortable. Regular care guarantees a long lifespan and continued performance.

If your leather clothing becomes wet, hang-dry it at room temperature (wipe with a damp cloth before drying if the leather has become dirty).

Generally follow the instructions on the care label.

  1. WOOL

Wool is a natural material with a plenitude of unique qualities. You can retain the color and shape of our wool products by following a few simple guidelines.

Wash in cold water or use the washing machine’s wool cycle. Never use detergents that contain enzymes.

Instead of washing, airing wool garments is a good alternative.

Generally follow the instructions on the care label.

  1. ATMOTEC® - waterproof membrane

HILLMAN clothing with a waterproof, breathable ATMOTEC® membrane must be washed at 30°C with a gentle spin. Close all zippers and any straps before washing and avoid detergent in powder form, fabric softener, stain remover and bleach, as these products will decrease the performance of the membrane.

HILLMAN clothing with ATMOTEC® membranes must hang-dry.

LEATHER FOOTWEAR

  1. CARE INSTRUCTIONS
  • Before applying
  • Remove laces
  • Remove dirt from your footwear under lukewarm running water using a brush
  • Air dry in an upright position at normal room temperature. Alternatively use a shoe dryer (Never dry footwear near a source of direct heat, e.g. sunlight, radiators or stoves)
  • Ideally perform the care treatment when your footwear is almost dry. At this moment the pores are open and the care product absorbs deeper into the leather
  1. INSIDE CARE
  • Remove dirt and stones from the inside and let the footwear dry in open air
  • To avoid odor clean the inside of your footwear. This does not damage the lining
  • The ATMOTEC® lining can be cleaned using a soft sponge and clean in lukewarm water. Do not use hot water
  • Footwear without ATMOTEC® dries faster with stuffed paper inside. Do not use paper to dry ATMOTEC® footwear
  • Remove the footbed, clean it if needed and let it air dry. Make sure to re-insert the footbed correctly
  1. STORAGE
  • Store your footwear in normal room temperature with dry air and air circulation. Do not store:
  • On heated floors
  • Close to open fire
  • In direct sunlight
  • On a radiator or similar heating devices
  1. ADVICE FOR OPTIMUM COMFORT
  • Start your day with dry footwear
  • Wet and loose trouser legs can carry water to the surface of your footwear
  • Water can penetrate your leather footwear when standing in water for a long time
  1. WHAT NOT TO DO
  • Do not wash your footwear in a washing machine
  • Do not dry your footwear while it is lying down or under pressure. Always dry in an upright position
  • Do not let your footwear dry in areas with no air circulation – e.g. inside plastic bags or moist rooms
  • Direct sunlight should be avoided as it “burns” the leather, causing it to it dry out and crack
  • Do not dry your HILLMAN footwear in hot places – e.g. by an open fire, on a radiator, by a heating oven or on a heated floor
  • Do not use soap as it damages the protective layer
  • Avoid contact with fuels/oils, waste liquids, manure and salt water. If your footwear has been in contact with any of these substances, wash and rinse with fresh water
